Every once in awhile I enter an online contest. There is usually a theme and then photos are selected.  In this particular case the theme was “portrait” and I had just taken a photo of my mom in December.  I was practicing using off-camera flash and asked my mom to sit for me.  It was pretty late and I don’t think she was particularly happy that I wanted to photograph her.  She was in her lounging clothes and had no makeup on. Despite all of this, I love how raw the photo feels.
