Dear Ezra,
It is really incredible to see all the changes that have occurred in one month. We still have our share of bad days but this past week has been really enjoyable. You are interacting more with your sister and in the morning while she is breastfeeding tell me that “Sadie want to play with me.” You chase her around and make her giggle. It is pretty amazing as your mom to watch.
The biggest change this month was that you turned three. It is really hard for me to see you grow up so quickly but I’m loving our growing relationship where we can have our talks about the day. When we asked you what you wanted for your birthday, cake was the answer. When we pressed you for something else, your response was chocolate cake. You did have cake for your birthday but we did end up buying you magna tiles which you love. It brings out your creativity and I’m continuously surprised at your creations. Sometimes you make houses, or garages as you call them, for your animals, other times cookies or ice creams or trees. We also took you to Storyland for your birthday. I was a bit nervous that you wouldn’t like the amusement park rides but you LOVED every moment of it. As a parent, it was so rewarding to see you smile the whole day and run around going on ride after ride.
Lastly, I’ve been amazed at how you see the world. The other day you asked to go to the yellow playground. I had no idea what you were talking about. And, then you asked for the purple playground. Again, I had no idea. I knew the playgrounds by names but you were only thinking about them in colors. So, one day I drove around to figure it all out so now I’m up-to-date on which is the yellow playground, green playground, purple playground and pink playground.
Love,
Mom
Dear Sadie,
The other day Ezra said “Sadie is a big girl” as you were trying your best to walk down the stairs. That pretty much sums it up. Everyday you are learning so much and surprising us all. I’m your mom, so I might be biased, but I’m pretty sure you are a genius. It really sounds like you are saying, “I want {fill in the blank}. “I want mommy.” “I want daddy.” “I want baby.” Every day you are picking up more words and repeat everything to hear. It is adorable to hear you sound them out.
Speaking of babies, your grandmother sent you a baby doll and you are attached to it. We can’t not go anywhere without it and if we do you you will repeatedly ask for it. During nap time, I find you cuddle with the doll, which is the cutest thing ever.
I’m in the process of trying to either wean you or cut down your feedings to one or two times a day. You were breastfeeding way too much as the NP told me to take control of the situation. The first few days were pretty hard for you. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you so miserable but almost three weeks later we are making some progress and are down to 1 or 2 feedings a day.
Until next month,
Mom
Instead of setting aside time for a special session, I tried to capture more of our day-to-day this month. Here are a few of my favorites.
