Why not take photos on your anniversary trip to Boston?

These two are my heroes. They have  two kids and found a way to take a trip to Boston for their five year anniversary. Marc and I have been trying to figure out a way to do something similar for ages; however, with young children finding babysitter coverage is difficult. How many of us say we are going to do something but then don’t.  I’m so glad they found a way to make it happen. She wanted to visit the city since she was young and being that they are both history buffs it seemed like the perfect destination.

I love that they took the time to have photos taken. Our identity can start to become engulfed in being a parent and taking the time for our other relationship in just as important.

She wanted to be in the city. Bricks, cobblestone and the Boston Public Gardens seemed like the perfect fit.  Plus, it gave them a chance to see part of the city they hadn’t walked through yet.

It is always a little nerve wracking to photograph another photographer.  She is a newborn and family photographer in Oklahoma. But they were so patient with me as a I tried out a few things with them that I loved. A lot of my work is with newborn and families, so when I get people who stand still I love to experiment with a few different techniques. Plus, they had so much positive energy and love, it was a joy to be around.

The weather in April can be a bit unpredictable but we ended up with an incredibly warm evening. And, I can’t end this post without saying how much I love their outfit.  The pop of yellow on her skirt is gorgeous.
