About the session

This sweet little newborn, Ivy, slept through our whole session at her home in Wayland, MA. We started with some simple photo of her in this gorgeous swaddle blanket that her mom had purchased. I love the simplicity of the beautiful pink flower against the white cloth, which was absolutely beautiful as was their entire home.  I wanted the mom to come over and decorate my home.  Most of the session took place in the parents’ bedroom since it had the most light but we were able to use the nursery and I made sure to include the dining room of all places because it was painted a gorgeous blue color. In every home I visit, I try to find something that stand out to me while also incorporating elements that are special to the parents. About newborn lifestyle photography

Over the last few years, the options for photographing your baby’s first days or weeks has really opened up. There are posed, lifestyle and documentary photo sessions.  All of these different photography styles are beautiful and appeal in their own way.  My newborn photography style falls into the lifestyle category with a touch of documentary.  I love the moments of the parents holding their daughter or son in a way that is special to them not one that I propose, capturing the soothing of crying baby, or seeing parents look at each other across the room. I always get photos of everyone smiling and looking at the camera but those aren’t the moments that melt my heart.
