This past Sunday, I met up with this handsome 9 month old and his parents at their home in Dedham, MA, which is not too far from Boston MA. They hadn’t a professional photos taken of three of them and they were referred to me by another client.   I was thrilled when Matthew’s mom suggested we meet a little earlier than our previously scheduled time of 8:30am for the photograpsh. In the summer, the sun rises around 5:30am and by 7/7:30am the sun is high up in the sky.  Meeting at 6:30am still gave us an opportunity to take advantage of the beautiful morning light.  I always like to schedule baby sessions around naps so this meant that Matthew would be in good spirits since would have just woken up.  And, this 9 month old baby did not disappoint.  He was all smiles the entire time we were taking photos of him.

The backyard had some beautiful rhododendrons, which we used as a backdrop for some of the photos. Additionally, the radio flyer wagon was something mom and dad wanted to incorporate into the session.  I don’t use a lot of props during my photography sessions but I love incorporating items like this when it is meaningful to families. This session took place during the summer heat wave so once the sun warmed up the air we headed inside for a few photographs in the living room and in the nursery of this baby boy playing with his toys.  Additionally since the family hadn’t had professional photos taken yet, I wanted to photograph the nursery for them.  I love seeing all of the details that parents put in their baby’s room.  Such care is taken with incorporating items from their past with new ones.
