Photographing this family felt like seeing old friends. We first met at Henry’s newborn session in December 2013 at their home in Quincy, MA and I was thrilled that they asked me back.  Our kids are the same number of months apart and I could totally relate to the high energy of a not quite 2 year old boy and a newborn girl.  I loved that mom and dad just went with big brother’s energy and harnessed it into some joyful photos.

My favorite shot of the session is the first one below which almost didn’t happen.  At the end of the session I was packing up and realized we didn’t take any photos of mom and her toddler.  An oversight on my part but she ended up playing with him.  It wasn’t until I uploaded the photos onto my computer that I realized that dad was in the background with his newborn daughter.

Grandma was on her way back home after spending a few weeks with the family helping out.  Before her exit we were able to document her and her granddaughter.  The blanket in the photos below was knitted by her.  She also knitted a blanket for Henry which we incorporated into his newborn session, which is visible in the photos below (laying on a chair).
