Capturing Natural Newborn Moments

One of my favorite things about this session is that the majority of photos take place by one window in the front of their home. Many parents are worried that their home doesn’t get enough light, is too small, doesn’t look magazine worthy, etc. As a photographer, I just need one window with decent light and I can create a gallery.  At newborn lifestyle sessions the focus is the love and connection a family is having with the newest member.  Through my eyes it is where you brought your baby home.  It is about the connection and love you share for this new life.

When one window is involved, I try to utilized light in a variety of ways to create different looks with different people.  In addition, taking closeups plus wide angle shots aids in creating a variety of images for families. This family’s first baby was their enormous but gentle dog.  I have two cats but I really feel that animals sense the changes occurring around them and their behavior is modified. This gentle giant spent most of the time in his spot – a dog bed in the corner eyeing us the whole time.
