At the beginning of May I met up with this adorable family for portraits at the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain. It is my favorite location in the spring and I was so happy when this family agreed to meet me there. Last year I had a few family sessions at the arboretum and couldn’t wait to get back there again. We met in early May and the flowering trees were just blooming. These setting was just magical. This little one year old baby couldn’t make a sunset session but we still lucked out with some gorgeous light filtering through the flowering trees.
This is the fourth time I’ve photographed this family. Babies change so much in the first year and I’m happy that I was able to capture it his growth. The day of the session was actually the baby’s first birthday, which made the session even more special. Plus, his grandmother was visiting out of town so we were able to capture a photo of with her, too.
If you have time, I’d really recommend a stroll through the park. While the flowering trees are probably gone the lilacs are probably peaking now.
Before ending the session, the couple requested a photo of the two of them and I was happy to oblige. Couples tend to laugh at first because the last time they’ve usually had a photo taken together by a professional was at their wedding.
