Celebrating Motherhood with a Boston Mom & Me Photo Session

A few years ago, I was talked into doing mommy & me sessions.   I was on the fence because I’m an on location photographer not a studio photographer.  It might not seem like a big deal but there is a difference and it takes a different skill set.  But ultimately, I fell in love with it. For me, it not about everyone smiling at me but the connection between the parent and child.

Sessions are short but perfect for being inside where I think kids get a little restless in this type of environment.  I love the range of expressions and how each interaction between the parent and child varies –  as it should.  What I love most is that these women are taking the time to this.

However, you don’t need a professional photographer.  Just hand the phone or camera to someone else and take a photo. Then PRINT it. Years or decades later your kids will thank you.  I love finding photos of my mom and me, especially from when I was little.

This year definitely was a time to appreciate the other women who make everything possible. One mom bought a session for her nanny since they are moving, which was the sweetest thing.  Another mom, bought a session for her mother-in-law and granddaughter.  I was really touched that these clients did this for another woman in their life.

Capturing a child’s portrait is one of my absolute favorite things.  Kids are just so expressive and aren’t hung up on they look.  You play a game with them and they smile, laugh or give you a serious look.  Although the session is for moms to be in a photo with their child.  I can’t help but take a few of every child that comes.
