I had such an amazing time photographing this family and their newborn baby boy. Even after just having a baby they were so full of energy and obviously adored him. I was a bit hesitant when we set up a late afternoon session since we would be ending the portrait session close to the typical newborn “witching hour” but the new parents assured me that was his happiest time and really wanted to get some awake photos.

When I arrived the baby was sound asleep and that let us capture a few sweet shots of him sleeping before moving on to the lifestyle session that the parents wanted. After about 20 minutes the baby woke up, and then cried for a short bit before becoming a very content newborn – just like his parents said. When the baby started crying the parents started singing very loudly in unison, which was absolutely adorable from an outsiders perspective. These new parents were not phased at all and I was a bit jealous at the ease that they handled those moments.

Since the weather was cooperating, we headed outside to take a few photos on the roof top deck with a beautiful view of the Boston skyline. Grandma was visiting from out of town and I was happy to take one of her and her grandson, too. Right before I left we dashed over the TD Garden, which is directly across the street. Dad was insisting on a photo in front of the Garden and I was happy to oblige. As far as a I remember, the parents are not basketball or hockey fans but the dad wanted to document their time in Boston. I thought it was a cute idea to document where the family lived when the baby was born.
