For us, the start of every year begins in New Hampshire.  We travel up to Marc’s parents condo, where it is quiet and a little bit desolate in the winter (since it isn’t in a ski area).  However, I think it is really beautiful.  There is always more snow here and the lake freezes over. Some people set up their ice fishing houses on the lake which is mind boggling to the kids. Ezra loves sliding on the ice although we are too nervous to let him go to far.

The pace of life here is different.  Slow. Relaxed.  Cozying up to the fire while reading a book or playing games with the kids is a wonderful way to start of the year.
