Favorite personal photos 2016

As 2016 comes to close so does another year of my photo-a-day project.  This is my second year (plus) attempting a 365 project (or 366 this past year) and at the end of 2015 I wasn’t sure if I would continue the project.  It is a lot of work and a lot of pressure to create something artistic every single day.

Although, at the end of 2015 I loved seeing visually how the kids grew and their changing interests so I gave myself the freedom to just capture our day-to-day.  No prompts, no class homework assignments. So, for the most part there wasn’t much vision, pushing the kids to take photos or picking up my house.  If something magical happened, it did.  If the photo was awful, it was awful.

What was most important to me in this second year was that I didn’t get discouraged and that I would end up with a photographic journal of our lives.  For me, each photo is a memory – a place, a gesture, a mood, a feeling.

Now that I’m into my third year, I’m trying to figure out where to go with this project.  I do feel like I need some more structure and that I would like to be in more of the photos so I’m not a ghost in our yearly albums.

First, are my favorites 16 personal photographs from the year. There is something very meaningful about each of these images to me.
